Kanaya was born as the second child in her family. She has an older sister (Kartika Anjani Purbasari, six years older) and younger sister (Galuh Mustika Sukma, three years younger). Her father is works as an architect whilst her mother is a nurse.
Her childhood was fairly normal. However, due the fact her parents were busy with jobs, the sisters were often left with their grandmother instead. Even so, the connection between the family remained solid, although with several quarrels in between.
Kanaya's gaming life started too early. She was just three years old when she touched her first game, without even understood the game. Her older sister, Tika, owned a gaming console and often letting Kanaya to play. Almost everyday, Kanaya played video game and she would throw tantrum if she didn't play the game.
The gaming life continued. Tika taught Kanaya to read whilst playing game. After capable of reading, Kanaya started to play alongside a dictionary, since the games were mostly in English, not in language she understood of. When Kanaya was in third grade of elementary school, she already understood English albeit still a passive skill since she had never use it for conversations.
Her study was average, not that remarkable but she managed to climb the school grade without much problem. During her junior high school, she found a game written in Japanese. She started to learn Japanese, eagerly since she wanted to play the game. A little by a little, she started to understand Japanese and played a lot of titles that didn't receive English localization. She also started to write a fan-fiction about herself and her favorite characters, already established herself as a Yume-Joshi.
She stumbled upon maiden games (乙女ゲーム, Otome game) soon after. Immediately, she addicted to the game and the romance that was brought with it. Otome games became her gate to know more about voice acting. Although a lot of the previous games she played had voices in it, she felt that otome games brought a different feeling. This new obsession surely influenced her a lot.
After graduating from a high school, she decided to chase her 'dream' and learned Japanese properly. After passed the Japanese proficiency test, she enrolled to a Professional Training College (Senmon gakkou; 専門学校) with voice acting and broadcasting as her major.
